In August 2007, Bensons lodged a Development Plan Overlay application with the Moonee Valley City Council for Stage 2 of the ‘Travancore on the Park’ project. The application offers a fully integrated complement to the themes established by renowned architects Fender Katsalidis in Stage 1 and will add a mix of stylish residential and office spaces.
The Bensons team has carefully considered the impact of this development on local urban infrastructure including car-parking requirements, shopping needs and traffic flow considerations.
This second stage of ‘Travancore on the Park’ will comprise 226 apartments,
17,000 m² of office space, plus retail, gym and childcare facilities totalling 4,000 m². It will complete the transformation of a previously inaccessible and decaying industrial site into a valuable and attractive urban asset.
A range of features aimed at reducing water and energy consumption are incorporated throughout and includes solar-boosted hot water for residents, the latest energy saving devices in the office complex and rainwater harvesting for garden irrigation.
At the heart of the design space is a vast landscaped piazza, occupying for almost an acre of land. This exciting public space will provide outdoor recreational opportunities as well as links to the Delhi Reserve at the northern end, the Moonee Ponds Creek bike path to the east and Debneys Park to the west.
The outstanding features of this architecturally-savvy development and the combined commitment of Bensons and architects Fender Katsalidis to form, function and quality will result in an extraordinary landmark.
